Our one-bedroom holiday apartment is by the fishing harbour in the pretty 'Little Venice' resort of Puerto Mogan, in Gran Canaria. There are shops, restaurants and cafes close by on the quayside looking out over the yachts moored in the marina, but it's a quiet location with no loud music or late night bars. And it's just a five minute minute walk to the golden sandy beach!
A recently refurbished one-bedroom first floor apartment with a balcony and roof terrace overlooking the fishing harbour of Puerto de Mogán. It has two twin beds and can sleep up to two people.
Puerto de Mogan is the prettiest resort on Gran Canaria and good weather is virtually guaranteed, with the south of the island getting the best of it. English is spoken in almost all the restaurants and shops, though feel free to practice your Spanish - it will be appreciated! There are also expat-owned bars where a welcome is assured.
Some local cafés regularly feature live music, but in the marina complex, where these apartments are, there are no disco bars or music after 11pm. However, further along the coast in, for example Puerto Rico or Playa del Ingles, there are plenty of opportunities for a livelier nightlife, and taxis are relatively cheap, so there's no need to miss that "grand night out". Favourite bars and restaurants
Friday is Market Day in Puerto Mogan and is when the usually tranquil resort bursts into life. If you enjoy the bustle of a market and its crowds of visitors, you'll love it. If not, there are plenty of other places on the island to explore or visit to escape from it all!
If you are an angler, you can fish from the shore or go carp fishing in one of the lakes in the interior of the island, or even better, fish for big-game fish from one of the local sport-fishing boats. Trips and activities of all kinds can be booked through several agencies in Puerto Mogan and agents along the far side of the harbour.
Puerto Mogan is a special place - and only four hours flying time from the UK and Ireland. There are both charter and scheduled flights from Britain and Ireland, either direct or via Madrid. Once you arrive it takes about 30 minutes to get to Puerto de Mogan from Las Palmas airport by car, taxi or luxury minibus and the No. 91 Directo limited stop bus comes all the way to Puerto de Mogan from the airport.
